Edenbrook are currently recruiting a Group Risk Director for a leading London Market insurer. You will support the Group Chief Risk & Governance Officer and work closely and collaboratively with the Canopius Business Unit (BU) Risk Functions. The management of risk in the broadest sense remains the ultimate responsibility of management and the Group Board with support from legal entity Board’s and other committees. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Support the Group Chief Risk & Governance Officer to execute the Group Risk Strategy and plan. • Set Group policy in relation to risk management, developing and implementing a suite of financial and operational risk policies and procedures. • Liaise with BU Risk Functions to assess their adherence to the Group risk management framework, Risk Policies and risk appetite. • Responsible for Group risk reporting to the Group Risk Committee and Board. This will involve collating and aggregating BU Risk Function risk MI, and will cover current and emerging risks for financial and non-financial risks. • Responsible for leading the Group Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process. • Ensure the Group’s enterprise risk (ERM) framework enables active monitoring, assessment and control of the significant risks from all sources for the purpose of increasing the organisations short medium and long term value proposition to its current and future stakeholders. • Continuously develop, enhance and embed the framework and process for managing risks across the business ensuring that the processes are fit for purpose • Responsible for operational risk oversight, ensuring the Group has an appropriate process in place for the identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of operational risks. • Responsible for the successful execution of the Group’s quarterly risk and control assessment process. • Ensure that the risk framework is integrated within the Group’s capital modelling process and methodology allowing senior management to actively assess, set and amend overall capital needs, enhance capital allocation activities and measure performance on a risk adjusted basis. The ideal candidate should have: • Proven experience in leading and managing a Risk function and/ or ERM team. • Experience in dealing with financial services regulators. • Strong knowledge of international regulatory rules (including Solvency II), their implications and their potential impact on a major specialist (re)insurance company.
