Edenbrook are working with a specialist pet insurer who are seeking an Interim Financial Planning and Analysis SME. The individual will design and build a new forecasting and planning capability for the business. Key responsibilities: • Develop a new suite of Excel models to allow the business to forecast and plan (multi-year) accurately using recognised business drivers and in a user-friendly transparent way • Redesign the process for forecasting/planning to ensure there are agreed schedules in place to agree inputs/validate outputs and a timeline put in place to support Group deadlines • Work with Group FP&A to migrate Excel models to the Group’s preferred system-based approach • Work closely with the BAU finance team to ensure the new processes/models fit into broader finance team requirements and ultimately hand-over the new capability to the BAU team The ideal candidate will: • Understand & document inputs required to provide accurate forecasts in agreement with other areas of the business • Review current calculations & assess whether fit for purpose/advise new approaches • Build a new model/suite of models that support 1) accurate forecasting/planning, 2) clear communication of inputs/outputs/KPIs with key stakeholders, 3) outputs in agreed reporting formats, 4) self-checking internal controls 5) robust support version control • Gain sign-off from the CFO, Head of FP&A & financial controller for model design and calculations • Document model methodologies, inputs, outputs and terms/definitions • Ensure robust testing of any models is carried out before releasing to a live environment • Actively engage with the Group FP&A team to ensure 1) that reporting outputs are fit for purpose, 2) that design supports use of the Group’s recommended planning system 3) migration to the Group’s system takes place smoothly and with appropriate training/documentation given to the BAU finance team • Review, re-develop & document forecasting/planning process improvements, ensuring there is clear/agreed ownership for all model assumptions and that sufficient time for review is built into timelines • Provide mentorship and coaching to the BAU finance team, to help them improve their ability to manage financial planning and reporting processes.
