Edenbrook are working with a General Insurer on a Finance Manager – Financial Controls opportunity. Key features of the role include setting and embedding control standards and accounting policies, providing financial accounting guidance and oversight, and working across finance to establish and operate a strong control environment which enables the clear stewardship of the Group’s assets needed to achieve our strategic priorities.
Key duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
Entity Level Financial Controller responsibilities including entity level reviews and control activities
Monitor and analyse the legal entity level accounts and ensure accounting activities are in line with accounting standards and the Group Finance Accounting manual.
Responsible for setting up internal controls over financial reporting, which includes process mapping, risk identification and effective control design.
Oversee the embedding of the financial control reporting framework and support different business units to implement controls.
Undertake periodic reviews of process documentation and BU risk and control assessments.
Perform continuous monitoring, recording and reporting of control effectiveness status to Key stakeholders, through oversight of the Finance self-attestation process and controls testing activities.
Responsible for remediation of control design effectiveness and driving remediation of control operational effectiveness activity, working with relevant teams to address and rectify in a timely manner.
Responsible for review and approval of controls test plans and compiling the final controls testing reports, which includes a risk assessment, for issuance to key stakeholders.
Act as liaison with second and third lines of defence, including risk, internal audit and external audit to promote and monitor compliance.
Act as Finance EUC Process Owner, overseeing the technical maintenance requirements of the EUC inventory.
Act as an advisor to the Business and Business Areas in both technical accounting knowledge but also expertise to the business areas in delivering new ways of working under the Financial Reporting Control Framework.
Accountable for identifying Finance process improvement opportunities and implementing and applying best practice
