Why I love recruitment

A career in recruitment? I love it—it’s basically professional matchmaking, but with fewer awkward first dates and more LinkedIn stalking. Here’s why it’s the best gig ever:

1. Changing Lives (Don't throw up!!! I'll explain)

  • I get to be the hero who finds people their dream jobs. Nothing beats the feeling of telling someone “You got the job!” (except the work hard play hard balance).

2. Talking to People All Day (and Actually Getting Paid for It)

  • If you love chatting, networking, and mildly cyberstalking candidates on LinkedIn, recruitment is the dream job. Plus, I’ve basically perfected the art of small talk—weather, weekends, and “tell me about yourself.”

3. Every Day is Different (AKA Never Boring)

  • One day I’m hunting down top talent, the next I’m convincing a hiring manager that their “unicorn candidate” doesn’t actually exist. Keeps things interesting!

4. The Thrill of the Chase

  • Recruitment is like detective work—except instead of solving crimes, I’m tracking down the perfect candidate and convincing them that, yes, they do want to leave their comfy job for this amazing opportunity.

5. Money, Money, Money

  • Let’s be real—commission structures make this job very rewarding. Hard work = more cash. And who doesn’t love a job where success literally pays off?

6. Free Crash Course in Psychology

  • Why do people ghost interviews? Why do hiring managers change their minds last minute? Why does every candidate suddenly have “one more question” after we’ve already wrapped up? I’ll never know, but I sure enjoy figuring it out once I've the can of worms is opened!

7. It’s Basically Sales, But with People Instead of Products

  • Convincing candidates to make a career move? Check. Persuading hiring managers to actually make a decision? Double check. Recruitment is all about the art of negotiation—with a little bit of friendly arm-twisting.

At the end of the day, recruitment is fast-paced, exciting, and full of hilarious moments. Plus, nothing beats the joy of finding someone a job they love (and maybe earning a nice commission while I’m at it).
